AboutThe Red Lion Hotel is situated in the tiny hamlet of Bredwardine, which nestles on the banks of the River Wye just 12 miles from Hereford, and 8 miles from the Welsh border town of Hay-on-Wye.
Situated in the peaceful heart of England, with the Malvern Hills to the east and the Black Mountains to the west this beautiful stretch of countryside remains an unspoilt rural corner retaining a great flavour of Old England. The hotel stands on it's own grounds in the centre of the village or Bredwardine, and there is a large secluded beer garden at the rear where you can relax. All our bedrooms retain an element of the old-world charm, are individually furnished and en-suite with either a shower, bath, or both. Your comfort is our first priority, so we have provided each room with tea and coffee making facilities, colour television, hair dryer and fan.

Food & drink
The bar stocks a selection of locally brewed real ales and cider. During the Summer months patrons can enjoy our secluded beer garden, and blazing log fires through the Winter months.
Every effort has been made to combine a warm, congenial atmosphere with all the comforts and facilities of a modem day hotel, and you will find that the bar and restaurant at The Red Lion Hotel retain much of the old world charm including oak beams, traditional sash windows, oak paneling, and beautiful antiques.
The reputation of our dining-room relies on well prepared home-cooked food, using as much fresh produce as possible and cooked to order by our highly regarded chef. You can choose from a varied range of meals off our menu and specials board.
Please visit our bar and restaurant page to view our seasonal opening hours.

Activities
Situated in the heart of one of the most beautiful areas in the country there are a whole host of things to do and enjoy.
These include the historic Hereford Cathedral and the famous Mappa Mundi exhibition, to the local Small Breeds & Owl Centre at Kington.
Of course a visit to Herefordshire would not be complete without a trip to the Museum of Cider, and for the more active among us canoeing down the magnificent River Wye from Hay-on-Wye (the famous town of books and the Hay Festival).
