We offer around eight miles of prime River Wye fishing on The Moccas Fishery, set at Bredwardine between Hay‑on‑Wye and Hereford.
In recent years this stretch has earned a reputation as one of the UK’s leading barbel fisheries. Most barbel run between 4 and 9 lbs, with plenty of doubles and a recorded best of 14 lbs. The fast‑flowing Wye produces powerful, healthy fish, so we recommend using a minimum 8 lb line. The river holds far more than barbel, too. Anglers regularly see chub bags topping 50 lbs, bream over 9 lbs and carp to 27 lbs. You’ll also find dace, bleak, roach and a strong head of pike, making it a diverse and rewarding fishery throughout the season. |

Johnny Jensen has travelled the world more than 150 times over the past 25 years, combining his passion for photography and fishing in some of the planet’s most remote and spectacular locations — from mountains and jungles to rainforests and untouched wilderness. He spent time with us on the banks of the Wye throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, and we’ve stayed in touch ever since. You can explore his adventures through his online photographic library.
